I’m not one to often read movie reviews, as usually I’m really behind the times, and the review ruins the movie. In this case, it sounds like the movie did a pretty good job of ruining itself. This review of “The Happening” is a well done panning, chock full of enough spoilers you’ll never have to waste your time actually watching the movie, and a pretty good example of how dumb both the characters in, and directors of, horror movies generally have to be. It’s also nice to see someone else pan a movie for being needlessly gore filled, featuring characters with no ability to make logical decisions, and the absolute compulsion to take a broken relationship and make it work during the course of the movie, regardless of the characters/plot/lack-there-of.
As a side note, “The Happening” was directed by M. Night Shyamalan, who’s real name is Manoj Nelliyattu Shyamalan, which is no where near as cool. Okay, Shyamalan is still a pretty cool name, but the rest I can see why he just made something up instead. Not that I’m really one to talk.
