Which way will Minnesota go?

If history is any indicator, Blue.  Bright, bright, raging blue.  Minnesota actually has the longest active streak of going Democratic in the Presidential election of any state (okay, so DC is longer, but they’re not technically a state).  In fact, the last time Minnesota picked a Republican President was Nixon 1972.  The only blue on that electoral map was DC and Massachusetts.  To put in perspective just how impressive a 36 year Democratic streak is, here is the map from 1984 (from 270towin):

I thought about making a T-shirt of that for the RNC.  I kind of wanted to see how people would respond to it – a “yay, the whole country’s red” from the Republicans, or a “see, not even Reagan could win here, go home” from the Democrats.  Either way I didn’t get to it far enough ahead of time to get them made.
