Top 5

I’m not entirely sure what to do with this, but I thought it was interesting.  A while ago, I bookmarked this graphic on Wikipedia:

Mainly, because I thought it was interesting that three of the top five largest (publicly traded) companies in the world are oil companies, and the fifth is a car manufacturer.

Jump forward a year (to the 2008 metrics), and the top four are exactly the same, in the exact same order.  Oh, but who’s in the five slot?  Toyota.  GM was at ninth.  And the rest of the top ten isn’t too short of oil companies either:

  1. Wal-Mart
  2. Exxon Mobil
  3. Shell
  4. BP
  5. Toyota
  6. Chevron
  7. ING
  8. Total (a European oil company)
  9. GM
  10. ConocoPhillips

Elementary

I’m entertained. I love the hammer bit. And it would seem there’s more that a little bit in there for the ladies as well.

Somehow, even after reading several of the Sherlock Holmes stories lately, I always pictured Holmes as being notably older. Like in his late fifties or sixties. Not sure where I got that from.

42 – it’s getting closer

Both with the Kindle, and this towel.  No word on if the corner of the towel is soaked with vitamins.

Wisconsin health care plan

I’m not going to even try to talk about the government’s involvement in the health care system here (at least for now), but it really made me laugh when I heard Wisconsin’s government sponsored health care program is called BadgerCare.

Walkin’ Dog

Walkin’ Dog is not only a decent place to get a hot dog for lunch in downtown Minneapolis (it’s on the first floor of the Northstar Center, you know, with the Arbys, one of the 3 Subway, and the weird eye glass place that sells Girl Scout cookies, and now that I think of it, Twin Cities Bite (or something like that) in the same building on the ground floor is pretty good too), but they also have quite possibly the most entertaining hot dog place website I’ve seen.

More bad tattoos

In case my previous post on terrible tattoos didn’t scar you sufficiently, here’s another site chronicling life long mistakes.  Oh, and Elizabeth, this one’s NSFW too.

Custom 1964 Dodge Dart

I can’t decide if this (scroll about half way down, you won’t miss it) is one of the coolest or one of the most terrible custom cars I’ve ever seen.  For reference, this is what that car would look like stock.

Baby Sea Otters

Insanely cute:

Most people say that when they strike it rich, they want some fancy car, or a giant house in a prestigious neighborhood, or to travel the world.  I’m pretty sure I’d like a big pond full of otters.
