Not sure how to describe this one, it’s sort of like an anti-mime – actually manipulating a real object that seems fake instead of the other way around, so it gives a sort of cool wonder instead of a general mime-level hatred.
That’s got to take a lot of practice.

This is what David Bowie’s character in Labyrinth is doing. Or more accurately the poor bastard who has to stand behind him and thrust his arms around old ‘Magic Pants’. Ian’s got a book and a practice ball, but has never in my knowledge practiced with them.
Admittedly I don’t remember that part of the movie, but I think I only ever watched it once, in late high school or early college, and it was with Jenica, so it was more entertaining to watch her watching the movie than to actually watch the movie.
Can’t say I ever remember seeing it done before, though if Ian gets good at it, it gives me a good excuse for a vacation.
